Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This policy explains what personal data Fancap (“we,” “us”) collects when you use fancapleague.com (the “Service”), why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.
1. Who controls your data
Data controller: Christos Ktistis
Contact: info@fancapleague.com
Address: Kosta Charaki 14, Limassol
2. What we collect
Account information you provide:
- Name, username, email address, and password (your password is hashed by our authentication provider — we never see or store it in plain text)
- Your favorite football club, selected at signup
- Optionally, a profile picture you upload
If you sign in with Google:
- Your name, email address, and profile photo, as shared by Google under the permissions you approve during sign-in
Gameplay data:
- Your predictions and picks, including which matches, prediction types, and captain selections you make
- Your points, accuracy, tier, and season rankings
- Your friend connections (requests sent, received, and accepted)
Automatically collected:
- Standard technical data needed to operate the Service securely (e.g., session identifiers, sign-in timestamps)
We do not collect payment information, as Fancap does not currently process any payments or prizes.
3. Why we process your data
- To provide the Service — creating your account, running the prediction game, tracking scores and tiers, and operating the friends feature.
- Legitimate interest — securing accounts, preventing abuse, and maintaining the integrity of the game (for example, ensuring predictions can’t be altered after a match locks).
- Consent — where you choose to share optional information, such as a profile picture, or connect via Google sign-in.
4. Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to operate Fancap, each acting as a data processor on our behalf:
- Supabase — hosts our database and handles authentication and file storage (profile pictures).
- Vercel — hosts the application itself.
- Resend — sends account-related emails (sign-up confirmation, password resets).
- Google — if you choose to sign in with Google.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share your predictions, real name, or account details with other users beyond what’s described in Section 6.
Sports data providers we use (for fixtures and odds) never receive any of your personal data — that data flow is one-directional and contains no user information.
5. Cookies
We use only the cookies necessary to keep you signed in and to operate the Service securely. We do not currently use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. If this changes, this policy will be updated and, where required, we will ask for your consent first.
6. What other users can see
- Your username, current tier, and public season statistics (points, rank, accuracy) are visible to anyone via your public profile page.
- Your real name is never shown to other users — only to you, on your own account.
- If you accept a friend request from another user, they can see your graded predictions (only after a match’s result is known, never before) and your position on the friends leaderboard. You can end this at any time by removing the friendship.
- Anyone who is not an accepted friend — including someone you haven’t responded to yet — cannot see your predictions at any point.
7. How long we keep your data
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. To request deletion of your account, contact info@fancapleague.com.
8. Your rights
If you’re in the EU/EEA or UK, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority — in Cyprus, the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection
To exercise any of these rights, contact info@fancapleague.com.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll notify you by email or via a notice on the Service before the changes take effect.
